day four: hong kong - kowloon and the new territories

Up at 6.15am. and plenty of time to get ready and take a slow walk to my pick up point. Managed to find a food bar where breakfast costs a tenth of the price of my hotel, before setting off on the coach!

A drive through Kowloon and the New Territories to the Lok Ma Chau lookout, for a good view of the Chinese border, and the city of Shenzhen. Then onto Luen Wo market; not recommended for vegetarians, and the Kam Tin walled village for a look at the 17th century built home of the Tang Clan.

Next stop was, unfortunately, for this time of year, a mistake! The Wong Tai Sin Temple has thousands visiting at the moment, and if you wish to run the risk of getting your hair burnt by the jossticks being waved around, by all means visit at New Year. We couldn't get in however, hampered by a small fire in one of the temples, so we gave up and went on to the next stop, a jewellery factory.

Returned back to hotel, mid afternoon. Had a quiet evening, ordered room service, watched a film, bed by 10pm. God, I know how to live!
