An uneventful day spent unpacking, getting my bearings, and resting from the flight, was rounded off by the Chinese New Year fireworks display.
I left the hotel early to get a good vantage point, and found myself at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, where thousands had gathered. The show began at 8pm, and lasted 23 minutes officially, and captivated it's estimated 350,000 audience.
The highlights included the fireworks turning into thousands of fireflies in the sky, and the climax was when a hundred shots were fired simultaneously, and the harbour was blanketed with a dazzling shower of white light.
Not a bad welcome for my stay in Hong Kong!
