day twelve: sydney - darling harbour

Today, a walk from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour, and a visit to the Sydney Aquarium and Maritime Museum

The Aquarium hosts untold species of fish from Australian waters, and, in addition to its impressive underwater walkways, boasts a new Barrier Reef display. If you are not visiting the reef, I recommend you catch this exhibition.

The National Maritime Museum was playing host to the reconstructed Batavia, a ship of the Dutch East India Company, that sunk off the West Coast in 1628. It is fascinating to wander around the ship, viewing the cramped living conditions, and admiring the craftmanship that went into building this replica, over a period of 10 years.

The rest of the museum exhibits examples of Australia's proud maritime history.

Caught the 4.35pm. ferry from the Quay.
