#29 - Heavy going to Steng-a-Tor

Getting to sections of the forest boundary as part of the recce for the perambulation next month, is not simple. Today, I started from Meldon, heading up to Sourton Tor and up onto the high moor via Branscombe's Loaf. On the map, the 1.5 kilometres to Steng-a-Tor are deceiving. What you are met with is typical Dartmoor; ankle turning long grass and marshland.

The tor itself is surrounded by a moat of marsh, which makes it difficult to reach without getting your feet wet! What you are greeted with, though, is a magnificent view of the West Okement Valley and another leg of the perambulation.

From here, I headed south to Gren Tor, before turning back to the reservoir.
