#51 - Strines Moor... just!

The day started badly at 7.30am when I was packing my gear into the boot of my car, and as I slammed the boot shut I realised that the car keys were in there! So, an hour and a half later, as everyone met up at Strines Inn to start that mornings' walk, I was stuck at the Edale YHA watching an AA man skillfully break into my car and retrieve my keys!

I had resigned myself to the fact I'd missed the start but decided to drive out to the inn in the half hearted hope I'd catch the group up. Fortunately, the forest carpark where we were to meet had been closed for logging, so I arrived at the inn and found them still waiting to set off, a half hour late!

The walk was a cold one, the ground was rutted and frozen, and treacherous in places, but the day was clear again, and the views on Dovestone Tor were excellent. I could now see what I was missing when I was up here last for my silver navigation course!
