#59 - Shining Tor and Shutlingsloe

A Will4Adventure event in the Peak District, was the order of the weekend. A bad headache from the night before meant I was up at 5am Saturday to make the journey up to Wildboarclough. Arrived at 9am, with plenty of time to offload my gear at the camping barn, and join the rest of the group for the walk. Will gave me the chance to assist on the circular 12 miles from Trentabank Reservoir, heading up to Shining Tor.

Despite the rest of the country basking in the sun, we were deprived of what I am sure would be stunning scenery, having to make do with hill fog! Not that I'm complaining, I quite enjoy the atmosphere of a mist bound hill!

The western peaks are well worth a visit! Two summits at a respectable height of 559m (Shining Tor) and 506m (Shutlingsloe) made it a good workout, and I managed to navigate us around without any misplacement!

Back to the camping barn, a quick change and hasty retreat to the pub to ponder the thought of a night sleeping on a bed of straw in a building, we were later to find out in the pub, was nicknamed "The Fridge"!
