Beachy Head / Seven Sisters

Saturday, and up early to pick up Diane and Jim, and down to the south coast where the weather was promised to be better than London. It turned out to be true, and the rain held off all day!

A great all dayer, 14.5 miles and a very respectable 968m of ascent; given that our highest point was 163m, that's quite a feat!

We began in East Dean, on a circular that within an hour takes you along the coast. Highlights are Beachy Head, Birling Gap, the Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven; well, all of it really! Then we headed inland to the stereotypical chocoloate box image of an English village, that is West Dean. Up into Friston Forest, and down to Friston itself, before a final descent to the car park at the end of an eight and a half hour walk.

The day topped off with a trip into Eastbourne and a pretty good fish and chips!
