#67 - Fiescheralp to Moosfluh, Switzerland

Diane and I arrived in Switzerland yesterday to some miserable weather, but our first day of walking proved to be a dry one. First things first, we took the cable car from Fiesch to the Eggishorn, via Fiescheralp, to view the Aletsch Glacier. We made our way up to the summit at 2927m, me a little less energetically than Diane with her compulsion to scramble!

This was where my awareness of how affected by heights I am began to show. I slowly plodded up the rocky path, a little freaked by the drops, but made it to the cross that marks the summit. A brief sit down to admire the view of the glacier, with the Eiger, and Jungfrau in the distance. When it came to standing up, though, I felt very uneasy, and was very keen to return to the cable car!

We returned to Fiescheralp, and the reassurance of wider paths, to walk towards Bettmeralp, via Furri Hutte. A fairly level walk at an average altitude of around 2100m. From Bettmeralp, the weather looked fairly settled, so we headed up to the ridge to get another view of the glacier from a different angle, and then finished at the cable car station at Moosfluh (2333m).
