#94 - Princetown to River Walkham

Up relatively early, but with a slight head from the Jail Ale the night before, Jim and I had breakfast in the Fox Tor Cafe, then set off in the mist and drizzle.

This was to be a visit to four of the ancient forest boundary points; North Hessary Tor, Great Mis Tor, White Barrow and Limsboro Cairn, but thanks to the overnight rain, we only managed two.

The River Walkham was high, and far too risky to cross, so we handrailed east and then north along the bank to find a suitable point. No such luck so we met up with the Lych Way and made our way up on to Conies Down Tor.

By now, the weather was pretty much perfect for a walk, although the ground was waterlogged and energy sapping. We bagged Beardown Man Standing Stone and Lydford Tor, before returning to Princetown via Two Bridges and the Devonport Leat.
