Right, time to get my arse into gear! With the Easter break creeping up, I'm thinking of something to do, and that something looks like it will be wildcamping the Dartmoor Perambulation. Whilst I have plenty of time to complete it, the longer I take, the more provisions I'll need, and that means the heavier the pack.
That leaves me with a couple of weeks to lose a few pounds, build up my stamina, get used to carrying a full 65 litre rucksack, scan the map for suitable camping spots, stock up on provisions and master the art of bush cooking. Simple! :-)
This will all be good practice for the Overland Track. That will take me 6 days; whilst I don't envisage spending that amount of time on Dartmoor, a few nights out will certainly benefit me. The longest I've spent out before is a night.
I'm also aware of the water on the moors at the moment. Just a few weeks ago on the Princetown to River Walkham walk, rivers were up and this meant we had to reroute to avoid a hazardous crossing. Hopefully there will be a dry spell the week before to elleviate this problem.
